Studio Elèn Letort is an Amsterdam-based interior design studio creating refined, personal homes in the Netherlands

and internationally. Thoughtful layouts, expressive materials, bespoke details and carefully sourced pieces come together

in interiors that feel warm, individual and made to be lived in.

Every project begins with the home and the people who live there. Its architecture, proportions and existing details are considered alongside the client’s tastes, routines and belongings. Rather than following a fixed formula, the studio develops a distinct direction for each residence, balancing atmosphere, comfort and functionality with a lasting sense of quality.

Concept & Space Planning

The design process starts with a conversation about how a home should feel and support everyday life. Personal references, practical needs and the qualities of the property form the basis for the concept and layout. Room arrangements, sightlines, natural light and storage are explored together. Particular attention is given to proportion: how a compact room can feel generous, where a space benefits from openness, and where a more intimate atmosphere is appropriate.

These early decisions establish the framework for everything that follows.

Materials, Colour & Finishes

Materials and colours are developed in relation to one another, considering how textures contrast, tones connect and surfaces respond to light. Wood, natural stone, textured glass, metals and textiles are selected for both their individual qualities and their contribution to the whole. A colour might return subtly in another room, or a material appear in a different finish. These connections allow each space to have its own identity while maintaining continuity throughout the home.

Kitchen Design

Kitchens are designed as an integral part of the interior, with equal attention to everyday use and architectural presence. Layout, storage, cabinetry and work surfaces are developed together, considering how the kitchen supports cooking, gathering and the surrounding living spaces. From the scale of an island to the edge of a worktop and the exact tone

of the wood, details are carefully refined. Sculptural ideas are balanced with practical requirements,

creating kitchens that feel distinctive without overwhelming the room.

Bathroom Design

Bathroom design brings together comfort, material expression and the practicalities of daily routines. The arrangement

of fittings, integrated storage, lighting and surfaces is considered as a whole, with bespoke elements introduced

where they add value to the space.

​

Each bathroom can have its own atmosphere, whether light and open or more intimate and cocooning. Stone, colour

and carefully chosen finishes give these rooms character while connecting them to the wider interior.

Bespoke Furniture & Joinery

Bespoke elements allow the design to respond precisely to the architecture and the way a client lives. Cabinetry, wardrobes, shelving and built-in furniture are developed around the proportions of each room, making space for both practical storage and the display of books, art and personal objects. Materials, construction details and finishes are developed in close dialogue with makers. The aim is for each piece to feel at home in its setting, whether quietly integrated or given a more sculptural presence.

Furniture, Art & Objects

Sourcing is an integral part of the design process and an important way of giving a home its own identity. Vintage furniture, contemporary pieces, artworks and collected objects are selected for their character, scale and relationship to the client.

The studio looks beyond familiar combinations, seeking pieces that feel personal rather than working from a repeated selection. Existing furniture and treasured belongings can become starting points for a room. Each choice is considered

both on its own and alongside the others, creating an interior with depth and room to evolve.

Lighting Design

Lighting is developed alongside the layout, materials and furniture, rather than added at the end. Practical light for cooking, reading and everyday tasks is balanced with softer lighting that brings warmth and intimacy. The placement and character of each fitting are considered carefully, from integrated lighting to wall lights, table lamps and distinctive vintage pieces. Attention is given to how the home is experienced at different times of day, and how light reveals the textures, objects

and architectural details within it.

Coordination & Realisation

A strong design depends on the care with which it is carried through. Studio Elèn Letort works closely with clients

and a trusted network of suppliers, makers and builders to translate the concept into a finished interior. Depending on the agreed scope, support can include sourcing and procurement, coordination with contractors, site visits and final styling. Throughout this process, practical decisions are considered in relation to the design as a whole, maintaining attention

to the proportions, materials and details that give the home its character.
