Restaurant Bennies
Restaurant Bennies is a hospitality interior design project in Amsterdam by Studio Elèn Letort, shaped through bold contrasts, collected pieces and bespoke modernist details.
At the heart of the interior is a bespoke butter-yellow kitchen, built by Behout. Defined by clean lines and geometric detailing, the kitchen brings a precise modernist language into the otherwise industrial setting of the space. Its soft yellow tone adds warmth and character, while remaining strong enough to hold its own within the restaurant. The bar was designed as a composition of interlocking volumes, drawing inspiration from the Brutalist movement. Two contrasting wood tones are combined with a granite triangle, creating a sculptural yet functional centrepiece within the restaurant. Behind it, sage-toned wall panels were introduced to create a bold but softened backdrop, both complementing and contrasting the industrial atmosphere. Throughout the dining area, custom-made tables by Six Dots Design were developed to sit naturally within the surrounding architecture. Gijs Bakker chairs add
a cohesive layer through their warm beige tones, while a remarkable burl wood centrepiece, sourced from a private seller, brings depth, texture and a sense of discovery to the space. The bathroom continues the dialogue between raw and refined. A more modern, almost brutalist language is softened by Art Deco touches, including vintage Villeroy & Boch
shell-shaped sinks and a prominent stone sculpture. Together, these elements give Bennies a distinctive character: expressive, warm and carefully composed.
